Nov. 13 Message From Rev. Tam

Blessings Orchard Covenant Family,

Psalm 27:13 says, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

King David wrote these words during a season of real hardship in his life. He was waiting on the promise that God had spoken over his life, the promise of what his future would become. He had lost his place of safety, was dwelling in wilderness caves, and facing conflict with those who sought to harm him. However, through it all, his heart remained confident that he would see God’s goodness right where he was, and eventually he did.

Our times may not be exactly like the times David had to endure, but we are living through challenging days of our own. As many of you know and could have personally experienced, across the nation, families in need are facing reduced benefits, limited access to medical care, and increasing costs that make daily living more difficult. These are real stressors that are touching hearts and homes. Nevertheless, I am happy to share, amid these realities, we continue to see “the goodness of the Lord” in our church family through met provision, open doors, and blessings that remind us God is faithfully caring for us no matter the situation of the world.

Some among us have been blessed with new homes. Others have received brand new cars and medical resources that are helping them live in greater health. Doors have opened for opportunities, and new beginnings. The “goodness of the Lord” has been finding its way into our hallways, our conversations, and our prayers for one another and for this I am thankful and grateful.

In all, David’s story of blessing joins with our own stories of blessing to tell one greater story. A story that says, God keeps promises. For the Christian, our blessings are never determined by the world’s circumstance, we are people who live by faith. That faith invites us to stay faithful to God’s leading, to trust that God is still working in ways we may not yet see, and to keep living with the confidence that God’s goodness will meet us right where we are.

For those who are waiting to experience that goodness in your own life, take heart. If God has been blessing your sister or your brother, God will bless you too. The same faith that kept David is the enduring faith that will keep us and see us through.

The goodness of the Lord is being witnessed in this community of faith. Look for it. Expect it. Because you just may be next.

With faithful and expectant love,

Rev. Tam
