| Blessings To You OCC,
Can we say what a life. What a legacy. This week, past presidents, faith leaders, scholars, and everyday people took time to honor Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr., and that alone tells you something about the life he lived. His voice moved people. His presence in a room, in a movement, in a moment, changed things. He walked with Dr. King, stood in the gap for the marginalized, and refused to let the world grow comfortable with injustice. That is a life well-lived. He left a legacy that will live on.
One of Reverend Jackson’s most enduring gifts to the world was his insistence on hope, even in the hardest seasons. He said it so beautifully: “Hold your head high, stick your chest out. It gets dark sometimes, but morning comes. Keep hope alive.” The Apostle Paul, centuries before him, expressed that same conviction when he wrote: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for we will reap a harvest in due time, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9, NRSV). Two voices, separated by time, singing the same song: keep going. The harvest is near. The morning is coming.
Beloved, wherever you find yourself this week, in a season of struggle or a season of joy, let these words find you and anchor you. If you are in the dark, lift your head. The morning is coming. If you are already walking in the light, keep going. The harvest is on its way. And if you are somewhere in between, know this: God is still faithful, still working, and still holding every one of us in grace. May we all keep hope alive.
Until the harvest comes,
Rev. Tam |
